Bride Tips on Wedding Costs – Part 2

By: Barney Grossman|Posted on May 8, 2013|Tags: wedding advice, wedding budget, wedding cost, Wedding Disco, Wedding DJ, Wedding Entertainment

This article carries on Bride Tips on Wedding Costs – Part 1 6. The Bride’s Extras  I’m actually embarrassed to admit how much this extras actually cost us. The shoes, underwear, jewellery,  spray tan, nails, hairdresser and beautician for the big day….it added up to a lot of money. Yes, you may want or need all of those things but shop wisely. I spent £80 on a pair of shoes that nobody saw (other than the very tips of the toes) and haven’t been worn since, £120 on underwear that my husband merely glanced at before flopping into bed and £80 on jewellery that is buried somewhere at the bottom of …

Bride Tips on Wedding Costs – Part 1

Every bride and groom in the land wants their wedding day to be perfect, but does perfection come at a cost? As my feet haven’t found their way down the church aisle (yet!), I asked a married friend how much she spent on her wedding and if there was anything she would do differently if she could go back and do it all again.  I wasn’t expecting her list to be quite as long as it was, so I thought I’d hand the reins over to her today so she could tell you all about it. Here’s Elaine’s list of what she did wrong, where she overspent, where she under …

Wedding Packages Pitfalls

By: Barney Grossman|Posted on February 19, 2013

With people working more hours than ever before, trying to squeeze family and hobby time around their work, we’re fast becoming a nation of using one-stop supermarkets, buying online and ultimately taking as many shortcuts as we can to free up extra  ’fun’ time. But are we really getting the quality and service we deserve when we cut corners like this? Planning a wedding is a massive undertaking. The to-do list can run into pages, and the thought of embarking on it can seem daunting to even the very best organisers. It’s no wonder then, that some brides and grooms breathe a huge sigh of relief when their wedding venue …

Wedding Entertainment Director

By: Barney Grossman|Posted on February 18, 2013|Tags: wed, wed guild, Wedding Entertainment, wedding entertainment director

I’ve thrown my hat in the ring Having being blown away by the ridiculously high calibre of Wedding Entertainers I had the honour of meeting and working with in Vegas, the passion I have for my continuing career as a DJ and Master of Ceremonies has literally gone through the roof. I feel excited and invigorated… and I’m overflowing with so many fresh and fantastic ideas that I can’t wait to share with my brides and grooms. But it’s not enough. And that’s why I’ve decided to take a massive leap and put myself through the rigorous application process to (hopefully) be welcomed as a member of the Wedding Entertainment …

Wedding Grand Entrance Ideas

By: Barney Grossman|Posted on February 15, 2013|Tags: grand entrance, grand entrance ideas, liz daley, make it grand, peter merry, toastmaster, Wedding DJ, Wedding Entertainment

Following on from my last blog post, I’d like to tell you a bit more about the workshops I attended in Las Vegas, and why I’m so excited about implementing everything I’ve learned into my performances here in the UK as a Wedding DJ and Master of Ceremonies. All three workshops were incredible and I was honoured to be taught by people who are undoubtedly the best and most respected wedding entertainers in the world. Mark and Rebecca Ferrell’s  ’Gold Master of Ceremonies’ workshop, together with Peter Merry (author of The Best Wedding Reception Ever) & Elisabeth Scott Daley’s ‘Make it Grand‘ and ‘The Professional Process‘ were all very different, but …

Wedding Dance Floor Location

By: Barney Grossman|Posted on January 18, 2013|Tags: dance floor, LED Dance Floor, sparkly dance floor, twinkling dance floor, wedding dance floor, wedding dancefloor

They say that location is everything. When you buy a house, book a holiday or even arrange the furniture in your living room, location plays a huge part in your decision making.  Likewise, when you’re organising your wedding, you may well choose your honeymoon, church or venue based on location and perhaps  even ensure that things like the head table and the cake are strategically placed too. But it shouldn’t stop there. Have you ever given any thought to the location of your wedding disco and subsequently the dance floor (or if your lucky sparkly dance floor)? When most couples visit their venue for the first time, they’re usually preoccupied …

Wedding Ideas or Wedding Fears

By: Barney Grossman|Posted on November 20, 2012

Arranging a wedding is a huge task and a massive responsibility. You’ve probably spent many days visiting venues, poring over wedding breakfast and buffet menus with friends and family. You’ve discussed colour schemes, floral decorations and bridesmaids’ dresses and spent weeks flicking through magazines and clicking through websites for inspiration. You’ve tried on endless amounts of wedding dresses with your heart set on finding the one of your dreams. You’ve searched for suits and discussed ties versus cravats and hiring versus buying.  You’ve ploughed through album after album of portfolios, in search of just the right photographer and you’ve seen so many wedding cars you can’t even remember what the …

Wedding Budget

How much are you budgeting for your wedding cost? So, you’ve announced your engagement and set the date. Now all there’s left to do is to plan your wedding, but where do you start?  How much is it all going to cost? Your Wedding Budget The most important thing you should do at this stage is write a list of everything you think you’ll need for your wedding, do some research and then set your budget. In fact, I’d suggest doing all of this before you even set the date and announce it to the world. Find out if family members are willing to contribute, take into account any savings …
